Uploading video from your computer
If your video is ready to rock and roll, you can upload it directly from your computer to the Tube. It’s quick and easy, but it takes awhile depending on the
size of your video and the speed with which you connect to the Internet. After it uploads, you can watch your video. After you upload it, you have to wait a
few minutes before you can notify your friends that your latest and greatest is on the Tube. After all, the boys at YouTube have to convert your video to Flash format. To upload a video from your computer, follow these steps:
1. Log in to YouTube. Fire up your favorite Web browser, go to www.youtube.com, enter your username and password, and then click Log In.
2. Click Upload Videos.
3. Enter a title for the video. This is what your fellow Tubers see when they view your video.
4. Enter a description for the video. Enter a meaningful description because that content is used in a search.
5. Enter tags for the video. Tags are text information that’s used during a search. Tags are important; therefore, we give them a special section in Chapter 8.
6. Choose a video category. The category in which you place your video is important because some Tubers jump straight to a category to find what they want.
7. Choose a language from the drop-down list. This is the language spoken by people in your video or used in text overlays. At this point, read the copyright notice. If you don’t own the copyright to the video you’re uploading, continuing to upload is a breach of the copyright laws and YouTube’s regulations.
8. Click Continue Uploading.
9. Click Browse and then navigate to the video you want to upload.
10. Choose whether your video is public or private. If you click the Public radio button, anyone who logs in to YouTube can view your video. If you click the Private radio button, you can choose whether only your Family list can view the video or people on your Friends list can view the video.
